Laila “Bunny” Schroeder, 88

Laila “Bunny” Schroeder, 88, of Shakopee, passed away on April 2 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee.

Private services will be held in Laila’s hometown of Jackson, MN.

Bunny was born on May 25, 1930, to Robert and Catherine (Willis) Grantz in Jackson, MN. She went to Jackson High School.

She is survived by sister Roberta Flatgard of Windom; The beloved mother is also survived by her children Sandra Korba of Montgomery, Richard Schroeder of Windom, Rebecca and Joe Niesen of Shakopee, Catherine Schroeder of Oswego, Mary Ann Birnstihl of Cloquet, and William Schroeder of Shakopee. She was the grandmother of David Korba of Montgomery and Nicholas Schroeder of Sioux City, IA; and great-grandmother of Carsen Korba of New Market; many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by other nieces and nephews.

Bunny worked and retired from A T & T (Northwestern Bell). She was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as the president of the Shakopee Club and was the District President and Vice President. She also served in many other offices. She was very proud of the confidence placed in her by all of the Auxiliary members.

Bunny was strong, beautiful, independent and very hard working. Creating beautiful embroidery was her hobby. She was also a skilled cook who loved flowers. 

For many years, she also served her community by delivering Meals on Wheels and volunteering at the V.A. Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Margaret "Micky" Giffin; Raymond Schroeder; son, Thomas Scott; grandson, Scott Thomas Korba; and her brothers-in-law, Marlin Giffin and Shorty Flatgard. 


Bunny was a sweet, strong woman who made a great impact on her family and friends. She is loved by many and will be greatly missed.
