Council prepares for 2020, approves light upgrades to City Hall

On Monday, the Montgomery City Council got things in order for the new year approving depositories and appointments to committees, boards and commissions, and the council calendar.

The council unanimously approved the consent agenda, which contained the majority of the housekeeping items, one of which was designating the Montgomery Messenger as the city’s official newspaper. This means the Messenger will again be the publication for the city’s public or legal notices for the year.

Other items included official depositories, engineer, attorney, municipal advisor, and council and resident appointments to various boards, commissions and committees.

In other business, the council approved Kriha Electric to replace light fixtures in the municipal building for $9,300. City Administrator Brian Heck said the bill will be paid out of the newly-created Facility Fund.

He added the city will also be able to recoup up to $1,500 from Minnesota Valley Electric Company through rebates. The payback will be based on the number of bulbs Kriha replaces.
