City hires police chief on conditional offer
Montgomery’s new police chief will be a familiar face to residents. That’s because he already works for the department.
With a unanimous vote on Monday, the city council approved a conditional offer to officer Nathan Hintz to fill the role of Police Chief. Hintz began at Le Center in 1999 and was part-time with Montgomery in 2015. He started as a full-time officer in Montgomery in 2018.
In total, he has more than 20 years experience in law enforcement and has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He has also participated in the executive leadership program through the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association.
Hintz’s offer is conditional pending a satisfactory background check.
During discussion, City Administrator Brian Heck told the council a committee of himself, Mayor Tom Eisert, Councilor Dennis Lambrecht and Clerk/Treasurer Patti Soukup interviewed him last week on Thursday.
