Boys score first win
After a crushing 21-85 loss against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown to open the Tri-City United Basketball Tournament, the Titans rebounded with their first win against Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton (JWP), 58-51.
The boys opened the holiday tournament on Thursday, Dec. 27 with a winless record. They faced the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers who entered the contest with a 7-1 record, and as records predicted, the Buccaneers dominated the Titans in TCU territory.
TCU couldn’t get anything going and entered halftime with a grim score of 9-52.The WEM offensive held the Titans to just 12 points in the second half, while racking up 33 points. Scoring for the Titans were Matthew Feddema and Tyler Budin, 6 each; Carlos Estevez 4, Kyle Sladek and Austin Lambert, 2 each, and Carter Simon 1.
Sladek started off the scoring with a free throw, followed by Budin’s three-pointer a couple of minutes into the game. However, TCU was kept from scoring for six minutes when Estevez made a two-pointer, followed up with a layup basket. Feddema and Simon added to TCU’s scoring in the first half with a free throw each.
After a night off, the Titans returned to the court to take on JWP and recording their first win on the season with a score of 58-51.
