Boys lose to Belle Plaine 49-56, NYA 60-64

The TCU boys’ basketball team dropped a conference game to the Belle Plaine Tigers with a score of 49-56 on Tuesday in Belle Plaine.

Titan Coach Austin Pinke said his team got down early, going into the half with a 19-33 deficit. However, after the break, the Titans rebounded scoring 30 points to the Tigers’ 23 points. But it wasn’t enough to make up for the first half’s loss.

“We did not hang our heads,” Pinke stated. “We climbed back in the second half to take a three-point lead but couldn’t hang on. It was great effort from the boys!”

Matthew Feddema scored 19 points, and Kyle Sladek chipped in 11. Dominick Miland added 6, while Matthew Rabenberg and Tyler Budin added 4 each. Conrad McCrady added 3 and Chase Vargo put up 2.

The Titans lost another close game, this one to Norwood Young America on Friday in Montgomery. The TCU team was ahead for most of the first half, but fell behind to finish the half 30-34.

The second half opened with a string of TCU baskets from a two-pointer by Feddema, and threes by Dominick Miland and Vargo, and two twos by Sladek. The team established a four-point lead midway through the half, but gave NYA the lead with turnovers six minutes before the game was over.

The Titans continued to battle to the end with Rabenberg and McCrady sinking points for TCU.
