Paulson, Crosby score in Section 2A loss to GFW

Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop used a powerful rushing attack to end the season for the WEM football team.

The Thunderbirds gained 364 yards on the ground and scored seven rushing touchdowns in a 62-12 Section 2A Quarterfinal win Tuesday, Nov. 17 in Winthrop.

GFW went on to win the Section 2A Championship by defeating Minnesota Valley Lutheran 40-21. The T-Birds scored 40 or more points in four of their seven games. They finished 4-3 overall.

WEM did not win a game this season and were only able to score four touchdowns in five games.

Two of those scores came in the loss to GFW.

The Thunderbirds scored 22 first quarter points and 16 second quarter points, to take a 38-0 halftime lead.

The lead grew to 44-0 early in the third quarter before the Bucs scored both of their touchdowns.
