Government officials changing

There will be some changes in the government officials in a number of communities in the Lake Region Area following the State General Election held Tuesday, Nov. 8.

In the City of Waterville, Daryl Bauer was running unopposed for the office of Mayor. According to the Minnesota Secretary of State, Bauer received 471 votes while write-ins received 177 votes. Bill Conlin received 156 write-in votes. Incumbent David Wollin and newcomer Sean McCaslin will be the Waterville City Council members. Wollin received 390 votes and McCaslin received 275 votes. newcomer Nick Bongers received 257 votes and incumbent Roy McIntyre received 230 votes.

In the City of Elysian, Thomas McBroom holds a narrow 208 to 205 vote lead over challenger James Kaufmann. In the council race, incumbents Dennis Schnoor (248 votes) and Bryan Suemnick (245 votes) will return to office. Challengers Liz Hartzler received 167 votes and Dante Rand received 84 votes.

In the City of Morristown, Mayor Tony Lindahl will return to office after receiving 280 votes. There were 61 write-ins for mayor. Leon Gregor (223 votes) and Joe Caldwell (204) had the top to vote totals for Morristown City Council. Challenger Mike O'Rourke received 198 votes and incumbent Ralph Barney received 71 votes. In the City of Kilkenny, Cameron Hankins will return as mayor and incumbent council members Robert A. Busta and Tammy Holicky will also return to office.

WEM School Board members elected include Troy Tolzman (2058 votes), incumbent Jon Bakken (2015), Brenda Heuss (1774), and incumbent Gary Michael (1757). In the Le Sueur County 4th District Commissioner race, incumbent Lance Wetzel was defeated by David Preisler, 1174 to 1086. In Rice County, incumbent sheriff Jesse Thomas will return to office after a 17,910 to 5,056 win over challenger Ross Spicer.

All results are unofficial until certified by the government entity.
