Well Done, Minnesota!

Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis has come and gone. The build up to the big game, the excitement of celebrity sightings, the pageantry of the pre-game and halftime shows and an exciting, competitive game that was in doubt until the final play made for a great week.

Watching all of the goings-on on the local news was perhaps a bit tiresome, but an event like this doesn’t come to the Twin Cities very often… This was only the second time the Super Bowl was played in Minnesota, and given the league’s preference for warm-weather cities, it’s likely we won’t see another one for a long time.

But as Minnesotans, we celebrate the cold weather, and Mother Nature provided plenty to celebrate, with snowfall and sub-zero temperatures over the weekend. It was an exciting experience to witness all the events, even if it was just from the comfort of our own television. The scenes from the nightly concerts on Nicollet Mall, combined with all the other events, both indoors and outdoors, were fun to watch. And hats off to the promoters who renovated the Minneapolis Armory, a grand old building that had been used for decades as an indoor parking garage, into an exciting new venue for concerts and parties.

Visitors, even those who hated the cold weather, had nothing but warm things to say about the way they were treated during their time in the Twin Cities. All in all, it was a successful event.
