Union Hill earns state berth; Montgomery, Veseli eliminated
Derek Masberg pitched a complete game shutout to give Union Hill a 2-0 win over Faribault in the Region 3C playoffs Wednesday, Aug. 2. the win gives Union Hill a berth in the State Class C tournament.
In other Wednesday games, St. Patrick defeated Veseli 5-3 and Shakopee defeated Montgomery 13-2 in elimination games.
Two more state berths will be on the line Friday, with St. Patrick facing New Market at Priro Lake and Faribault will play at Shakopee, also at 7:30.
The double-elimination tournament will continue Sunday, Aug. 6, to determine seeding. New Prague faces Union Hill at a site to be determined and Fridays’ winners will also play each other Sunday. The loser of that game will be the No. 4 seed from Region 3C at the state tournament.
