Trojans fall to Holy Family in regular season finale

The New Prague Trojan boys soccer team wrapped up its season with a 4-2 loss to Holy Family Catholic Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Trojan Stadium.

"This was a great game for us. We played like we wanted to win," Coach Gospel Kordah said. "We looked good defensively and we were able to score first."

Mason DeGross got the team on the board for a 1-0 lead.

"I think the entire team played well and can see a lot of growth and maturity," Kordah said.

The Fire went on to take a 2-1 halftime lead. They scored again early in the second half to make it 3-1, but Jeff Wacker got the trojans to within a goal.

Taylor Woodyard played goalie for the trojans and had a good outing. The Fire added a late goal for a 4-2 win.

The Trojans’ scheduled game on Thursday, Oct. 5, with Minneapolis Roosevelt was cancelled. They ended their regular season with a 4-10 record, 2-5 in the Wright County Conference, good for seventh place.

The Trojans were scheduled to begin the Section 1AA playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 10. New Prague received the No. 8 seed and was scheduled to play No. 1 seed Rochester Mayo. New Prague lost to the Spartans 1-0 in overtime on September 9.
