Trojan boys start soccer season 0-3

The New Prague Trojan boys soccer team ran into some tough competition in the first week of the season, losing games to Faribault, Lakeville South and Farmington.

The Trojans will host Mound Westonka at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31. They will face Mankato West at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Falcons 3, Trojans 0 New Prague travelled to Faribault Thursday, Aug. 24, for their season opener. After a closely-played first half, the Trojans trailed 1-0. Faribault went on to score twice more in the second half for a 3-0 win. “We did a great job playing with them in the first half,” said Trojan Coach Gospel Kordah. “There were a few calls that did not go our way, but that’s all part of the game. I was most proud that we did not give up.” Kordah said defensively Jack Guerrette continues to perform at a top level. “Our mids and forwards competed the entire game.”

Cougars 4, Trojans 1 New Prague hosted Lakeville South Friday, Aug. 25, with the visiting Cougars claiming a 4-1 win. “It was a really good game,” Kordah said. “We played much....
