Tennis team 2nd at Mankato East tourney

The New Prague Trojan girls tennis team kicked off the fall sports season by placing second at the Mankato East Invitational Thursday, Aug. 17.

The Trojans’ doubles teams had good showings. The team of Emily Russo and Hannah Bruder competed at No. 3 doubles and went undefeated.

"Hannah has a year of varsity experience and showed great composure throughout the day. Emily is in her second season of tennis and her growth was clear in her matches," Coach Anna Borwege said.

The other doubles teams, Emil Schmitz and McKenzie Holgate and Lauren Hillstorm and Courtney Dragone, performed well and competed in their flights.

In singles, Lucy Lannon competed at the No. 4 spot and won her flight.

"She showed a lot of potential in her matches," Borwege said.
