TCU adds swim team; updates music, phy. ed. depts.

Improvements to physical education and music programs, and the addition of a swim team got the nods of the TCU Board of Education on Monday.

The board unanimously expanded its roster of fall sports with the addition of a female swim team. The sport is a cooperative Minnesota State High School League between TCU and possibly Jordan and Waseca schools. Activities Director Jason Myhre said TCU has 12 to 13 girls interested and signed up for the sport. He added that students in the Jordan School District were very interested in joining, but their board hadn’t officially added the sport.

The board also approved improvements to the music and physical education departments at Monday’s meeting.

Representing the district’s five music teachers, Erik Root, Tyler Frankhouse, and Kate Borgheiinck presented the board with recommendations on what improvements would be best for TCU, students’ individual and group learners, while taking into account each student’s ability.
