Sub-Section basketball seeds released

Seeds for the upcoming Sub-Section basketball tournaments were released Wednesday morning. The WEM girls basketball team (12-14 overall) will open their Section 2AA South Sub-Section playoff action Tuesday, Feb. 27 at NRHEG (16-9). The Bucs were the 7th seed and the Panthers were the No. 3 seed. NRHEG defeated WEM 53-52 January 4 and 50-41 February 5. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The winner of this game will play Friday, March 2 at 7:45 p.m. at Mankato East against either Blue Earth Area (15-11) or Fairmont (11-14). The WEM boys basketball team (10-14) will travel to JWP (17-8) Monday, March 5 for their Section 2A South Sub-Section Quarterfinal game. The Bulldogs defeated the Bucs 57-50 January 9. JWP is the 4th seed and WEM is the 5th seed. Game time is 7 p.m. The winner of this game would probably play No. 1 seed Springfield (23-1) Thursday, March 8 at Lake Crystal.
