St. Cloud ends adapted softball season for Trojans

The New Prague adapted softball team saw its season end Tuesday, May 23, with a 15-0 loss to a good St. Cloud team. The Trojans had just one base runner, when Charlie Zielinger reached on an error. New Prague was held without a hit.

"It was a good season. We made a lot of gains," Coach Shellie Kriha said.

"We will miss two seniors next year to graduation, Charlie Zielinger and Brookelynn Skluzacek. Otherwise, we should come back to a veteran team."

Trojans 11, Jets 1 New Prague defeated South Suburban in a game Monday, May 15, at home.

"We had a bit of a slow start, but by the second inning we turned it around," Kriha said. "On top of that, we had a great night defensively in the field."

Jacob Schurman played well at shortstop, Garrett Gagner had an excellent catch in the outfield, Zeilinger made a key play at second and Blake Perry had a couple good plays at second.

Alexis Parks snagged some good catches at first base and Evan Minar had an outstanding catch at third base.

New Prague was aided by home runs by Chase Smith and the Parks. Zeilinger, Smith, Seth Dorner and Minar each had two hits. Everyone in the line up had a hit.
