Spring play spoofs Indiana Jones movies
Student actors from Tri-City United Schools will perform an Indiana Jones spoof this weekend. The TCU players will present “Hurricane Smith and the Garden of the Golden Monkey” as its spring play.
The production runs April 21 and 22 at the TCU Montgomery Middle School auditorium. The curtain rises at 7 p.m. both nights.
The setting is the stage of a school auditorium where a schlock film director is wrapping up his latest epic, “Monster On Campus.” Enter Gloria Daily (Emily Krautkremer) with an Indiana Jones-like script under her arm. Trailing behind her are members of the drama troupe who intend to 'act out' the wild plot for the disagreeable film director (Tyler Henze). It concerns Hurricane Smith (Kyle Yetzer) famous explorer whose father disappeared in the Amazon jungles on a search for the fabled 'Garden of the Golden Monkey.'
Director Sarah Mejia said the play is almost like a show within a show that spoofs the Indiana Jones movies.
