Sheriff responds to shots fired in city limits
In the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 11, the Le Suer County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of several gun shots fired in the open area south of TCU Montgomery Elementary and Middle School.
Sheriff Brett Mason said his office is still investigating the incident but said officers received information that suggested a possible individual was shooting a gun. In addition to the sheriff’s department, Mason also called in the River Valley Tactical Response Team to assist. He said that team is called out when he feels the situation meets criteria of a dangerous incident.
Mason said they believe the firearm was a shot gun. He added that they recovered spent shell casings from the scene.
He said witnesses reported, from a distance, seeing the muzzle flash from someone who was firing the gun.
