Searchers find Holiday Medallion

It took only one outing for the winners of this year’s Medallion Hunt to find the hidden silver coin.

The team of Wendy Sembauer, son Jack, daughter Samantha Rosival and her husband Tyler, found the coin on Wednesday evening, November 30. It was hidden at North Side Park at the northern softball diamond by the Montgomery National Golf Course. Wendy said they found it by the bench in the dugout.

“It looked like it was duct taped to the back of the bench and fell off because it was on the ground,”she said.

Wendy said they read the first clue in the previous week’s Messenger and were heading out to the tennis courts to start searching (“Where folks wear shorts and gather becuz they like hitting balls covered with fuzz.”). However, before they arrived at the courts, they stopped at a convenience store to look at the second clue, which had just been published in the Messenger. That clue redirected them to the softball diamonds (“Move to nearby places where kids hit the ball and run the bases”). Once there, it didn’t take long to locate the medallion.

“We found it within a half an hour,” Wendy said.

Because they found the medallion, the group will split the winning prize of $100 in Monty Bucks. Wendy said they plan to spend the money at Pla Mor Lanes.
