Rain plays havoc with DRS schedule

Rain washed away most of the schedule last week in the Dakota-Rice-Scott Baseball League. Only two league games and one non-league game were completed. Shakopee won its first game of the season, while Montgomery evened its record to 2-2. New Market and Prior Lake remain atop the league standings, both with a 4-0 record.

Tuesday, May 16 Coyotes 13, Saints 0 Cody Pamperin threw a 7- inning one-hitter as Shakopee defeated St. Benedict 13-0 Tuesday, May 16. He struck out five and walked just one batter. Lance Buchtel had three hits and three RBIs for the Coyotes. Andy Lazzari, Logan Becker and Zack Hoffman had two hits each. Michael Pauly took the loss for the Saints.

May 19 Mallards 2, Bulldogs 0 It was a pitchers’ duel on a cold Friday evening at Union Hill. Derek Masberg threw six complete innings for Union Hill, while Trevor Smisek threw seven complete innings, allowing only one hit for the Mallards. Johnny Krocak pitched the last two innings, completing the save for the Mallards. The evening and bats were cold for both teams until Ryan Iverson hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to give Montgomery the lead. Union Hill threatened to score in several innings, but could not push any runs across. Mike Flicek had two hits for the Mallards.

Non-league Friday, May 19 Elko 7, Austin 3
