Patrick L. Moriarty, age 81

Patrick L. Moriarty, age 81 of Belle Plaine, MN, died on Saturday morning, May 13, 2017. Patrick was born on July 2, 1935 to James & Evelyn (Savage) Moriarty in Crookston, MN. He grew up in the Belle Plaine and Jordan areas.

He entered the United States Army in 1954. He married Florence Mayerhofer on August 27, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Jordan, MN. The couple lived in Germany for about a year while Patrick was in in the Army. Following his time in the service the couple returned to Jordan, Minnesota.

Family was extremely important to Pat. He used love and humor to make sure each of them felt special. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. For their 50th wedding anniversary he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of going to Ireland with the love of his life Florence.

Patrick worked for many years as a carpenter. He was a proud member of the Carpenters Union #1144. He enjoyed spending time with family, going fishing and watching sports. He played on the Jordan Brewers baseball team in his younger years.

Patrick will be deeply missed by his wife Florence; Children; Peg (John) Eiden of Cologne, MN, Jim (Kim) Moriarty of Jordan, MN, Mark (Tammy) Moriarty of Zimmerman, MN, Patty Pexa of New Prague, MN, Marian (Randy) Baumgard of Jordan, MN, Bev (Rich) Roiger of Carver, MN, Sharon (Richard) Pauly of Jordan, MN, Maureen Maxson of St. Joseph MN, Emily (Paul) Lambrecht of Belle Plaine, MN and Elizabeth Palmiter of Golden Valley, MN. 25 Grandchildren, 27 Greatgrandchildren, and 2 Greatgreat- grandchildren. Sisterin- law, Rosie Moriarty of Jordan, MN and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jo (Gerald) Devine, brother, Gerald Moriarty and sister Sharon (Peter) Arkins.

Patrick’s celebration of life and Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m, Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church, Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation was at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine on Tuesday, May 16, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. There was a 3:45 p.m. family and friends Rosary & 7:00 p.m. Veterans Service. Visitation continued Wednesday morning at the church from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Following Mass there was a lunch in the church social hall followed by burial with Military honors at Calvary Cemetery in Jordan, MN.
