A new school year begins

On Monday, students in the New Prague Area Schools will return to the classroom. They will be greeted by teachers, both veteran and newer teachers, paraprofessionals, custodians, food service and transportation and administrative staff members, all of whom begin the year with high expectations and hopes.

Students will be entering into freshly cleaned, and in some cases, freshly remodeled classrooms, most of them eager to soak up a year’s worth of lessons and experiences. Parents will have high hopes for their students and their relationships with teachers - hoping that the year is a productive one that helps propel their children to develop a love of learning.

Optimism reigns at this time of year. Teachers have been developing lesson plans to try to engage their students and inspire them to learn. Students are eager to see friends they may have lost touch with during the summer, and to make new friends as well. They look forward to new experiences, new activities and new lessons.

About 4,200 students and nearly 600 staff members - including about 300 teachers - have been provided with modern, well-maintained facilities thanks to a community that cares about education and children. The beginning of any school year brings with it the optimism of a fresh start. Here’s hoping that optimism can be maintained throughout the school year.
