New Prague wrestler claims national title
It's been five years since a New Prague wrestler captured a national title, but Koy Buesgens was able to accomplish that feat this past weekend in Cedar Falls, IA. He was competing at the USA Wrestling Kids and Veterans Folkstyle Championships.
Buesgens finished on top of the 60-pound Novice bracket.
The tournament drew more than 1,500 wrestlers from all over the country, sometimes competing in 30 to 50-man brackets.
In addition to Buesgens, Joey Novak put together an impressive string of victories and was able to place sixth, capturing All American status. Colton Bornholdt, Carter Bornholdt, Nick Novak, Brennan Rutt and Cael Berg also competed, but did not place.
