New police chief begins job
A new face began leading the Montgomery Police Department Tuesday, Jan. 2 when Lou Sager officially began his job as the department police chief.
Sager comes to the department armed with experience that he plans to put to good use in Montgomery.
“I believe my vast leadership, program/case management and investigative experience, graduate education, and federal (big picture) experience will help me in leading the department in establishing its strategic vision and programs as it begins the next chapter in its history,” he said in an email interview. “My experience as Sheriff in a close-knit Minnesota community has not only allowed me to adapt and refine my experiences to best serve a local MN law enforcement agency but as a ‘working’ Sheriff given me the experience of ‘hands-on policing’ in MN.”
Sager began his law enforcement career in 1990 with Federal Bureau of Prisons. While there he served as an Officer, Senior Officer Specialist (Sergeant), Lieutenant, and Armorer/Physical Security Specialist.
