Marion A. Jirak, 94

Marion A. Jirak, age 94, of New Prague, died peacefully, with family by her side, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at her home.  Marion was born on April 18, 1923, in Montgomery, Minnesota to Frank and Christine (Zoubek) Vlasak.  She grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Montgomery High School.  She married Harry J. Jirak on April 19, 1947 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.  The couple made their home and raised their children in New Prague, where Marion worked as a cook for New Prague High School.  Besides being a homemaker, Marion enjoyed dancing, playing cards with friends, knitting, sewing, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a member of the New Prague Legion Auxilliary and VFW Auxilliary.

Marion is survived by her son, Jim (Jean) Jirak of Mankato; daughter, Lynn (Chris) Landmark of New Prague; sister, Lucille Interkoffer of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law, Evelyn Vlasak, of Montgomery; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry on January 7, 2003; parents; brothers, Edward, Francis, and George Vlasak; sisters, Adeline Krocak, Irene Vinella, Christina Tuma.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton and Deacon Bob Wagner officiating.  Visitation will take place Thursday, from 8-10 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home.  Burial will occur at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis following lunch at the KC Hall in New Prague.
