Man gets 10 years for hit-and-run death

A Farmington man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of killing a New Prague High School graduate in a hit-and-run crash last fall. 

Matthew K. Hartley, 34, was sentenced Tuesday, May 9, in Scott County District Court. On September 25, 2016, he was driving a motorcycle that struck and killed 24-year-old Mollie Mahowald, who was standing on the side of the road in Elko New Market. Mahowald was a New Prague High School graduate who had served two tours in the Middle East with the US Army.
