Le Sueur County OKs personnel moves

The Le Sueur County Board approved recommendations from the human resources department as part of the agenda for the Tuesday, Feb. 18 meeting.

Personnel recommendations presented by Human Resources Director Cindy Westerhouse included: Approving Roxanne Billings’ telecommute renewal request and signing the county’s telecommuting agreement; transfer Conrad Browning to a full time jailer/ dispatcher in the sheriff’s office. Browning had been employed with Le Sueur County since May as a part time jailer/dispatcher; transfer Joe Kern to a full time deputy sheriff. Kern has been employed with the county since September 2008 as a part time jailer/dispatcher, and October 2009 as a part time deputy sheriff; hire Jody Brown as a full time deputy auditor/treasurer- motor vehicle specialist in the auditor/treasurer’s office.

The board also: • Received the monthly update from the human services department, presented by Director Sue Rynda, who also introduced new staff members — Agency Social Workers Jeff Mack, Maggie Novak and Kari Davis.

• Approved request by Don Reak, parks and 911 administrator, to update 911 address software, at a total cost of $13,500. “The purchase will be funded from the state 911 account, which has been approved by Sheriff Tietz,” Reak commented.

• Awarded contract for Le Sueur Trail & CSAH Pavement Rehabilitation in Le Sueur to Chard Tiling & Excavating, Belle Plaine, at low bid of $1,172,062. Darrell Pettis, county engineer, said this is a federal, state, county and city project.

• Adopted a resolution to terminate the Minnesota River Basin Joint Powers Agreement and end operations of the Minnesota River Board.

• Was reminded of the Le Sueur County Officials Association meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27, at Bullheads Bar and Grill in Waterville. Guest speaker will be Ann Traxler, Le Sueur County Director of Emergency Management.

• Was also informed by Engineer Pettis of a Neighborhood Meeting in Montgomery, scheduled for March 11, concerning the CSAH 3 (5th Street) project, which is planned for 2015.

• Held a work session following the regular meeting, with Lauren Klement, environmental specialist, titled “Water Management in Le Sueur County.” Also attending were representatives of the SWCD and DNR.
