Help in any way you can

Last week, we used this space to talk about how Hurricane Harvey has brought out the good in so many people and also talked about ways people can help while making sure the efforts go to reputable organizations.

This week, we turn our attention to local efforts to help those who have lost so much due to the flooding in the Houston area.

Steve Schmitt, a NPHS alumni, will be driving a semi trailer full of supplies to hurricane victims in Texas. People can bring donations to help fill the trailer before it leaves for Texas.

The trailer arrived at St. Wenceslaus Church on Tuesday, and donations are being accepted weeknights from 6-8 p.m. and also from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10.

The following supplies are needed:

Water Toilet paper Diapers Toothpaste Garbage bags Mops Soap Dried goods

More and updated information is available on the “From Minnesota” Facebook page.

These are the only items requested at this time. Judging by social media response, there is a lot of interest in helping the people of Houston with this project. This is just one way to assist. Several other businesses and organizations in the area have been helping raise money and goods as well.

The Times encourages readers to help in any way they can.
