Firefighters still on scene at barn fire
Firefighters remained on the scene Friday afternoon, Jan. 13, at a barn fire that claimed about 65 dairy cows east of Elko New Market. Elko New Market Fire Chief Todd Friedges, left, talked with an investigator from the state fire marshal's office while crews worked at extinguishing the fire at the Ray and Cindy Deutsch farm on Xerxes Avenue, about a mile north of Scott County Road 2 (260th Street). Elko New Market, New Prague, Prior Lake and Lakeville firefighters were called to battle the blaze, which was reported at 4:22 a.m.
