Doris Slechta, 83

Doris Slechta, age 83 of Waterville died on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Janesville Nursing Home.

Born on January 9, 1934 in St. Peter, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Matthew and Patricia (Kneefe) Juberien.  She graduated from St. Peter High School.  Doris married Kenneth Slechta on September 1, 1954 in Mankato.  She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Huffington, as a secretary for the Waterville School District and also as a secretary for the State of Minnesota Employment Office.  Doris enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.   She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville and the Rosary Society as well as the VFW Auxiliary in Waseca.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Waterville; three children, Patricia Slechta of Waseca, Nancy Bistrup of Prior Lake, and Mike Slechta of Waterville; four grandchildren, Jenny (Joe) Kern, Lisa (Matt) Hansen, Sarah Slechta and Erin Slechta; and two great grandchildren, Kendall Kern and Isla Hansen.  She is also survived by one sister, Jean Salzle of Madison Lake; sister-in-law, Betty Juberien of Apple Valley; and several nieces and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marge Haefner; two brothers, James and Tom Juberien; and two nephews, Bruce and Jimmy Juberien.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville.  Visitation was held on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.  Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville.  Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services of Waterville is assisting with arrangements.
