Darlene A. Kelzer, age 79
Darlene A. Kelzer, age 79 of New Prague, formerly of Shakopee, entered eternal life on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Mala Strana Nursing Home in New Prague.
Darlene was born on September 6, 1937 in Mobridge, South Dakota, the daughter of Ralph and Hilda (Ellingson) Dilly. She married Herbert Kelzer on December 20, 1960 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee.
Darlene started out as a switchboard operator and then taught elementary school for three years. She was an avid reader and started working for the Dakota- Scott Library System in 1968. After many years, she retired from the Scott County Library System on January 31, 2000. Darlene was able to watch the library system evolve and enjoyed the people she met along the way. She was also very involved in the Shakopee Jaycee's and liked to do ceramics, crossstitching and gardening.
Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; parents, Ralph and Hilda Dilly; sister, Jeraldine Johnson.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Robert) Wagner and Janet Bauer; grandchildren, Joseph Wagner, Jennifer Wagner, David Bauer and Emily Bauer; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services Monday, June 26, 2017, with Visitation from 9-10:45 AM in the Parish Center at Church of St. Mark, 350 S. Atwood St., Shakopee, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in the church. Presiding is the Reverend Al Backmann. Interment Catholic Cemetery.
