Many members of the New Prague Area Catholic Community came together the morning of Sunday, June 11, to celebrate the 20th anniversary Father David A. Barrett’s ordination to the priesthood.

The morning began with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Wenceslaus Church. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus participated in the service. Near the close of the service, Father Barrett said, “I wouldn’t be here if not for my family.”

The celebration continued with a reception at St. Wenceslaus Church’s Parish Activity Center. A lunch was served, provided by the Our Lady of Good Help CCW (WCC) and the St. Wenceslaus CCW. The 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus assisted in the festivities.

Father Barrett is the Catholic Community’s Regional Associate Pastor. During the reception, Father Barrett recognized his parents, Mike and Diane. He also said to the audience, “I thank all of you for your support in the seven and-a-half years I’ve been here.”

Among those at the celebration was Father Don De-Grood, a classmate of Father Barrett’s, who went to the seminary with him. “For me there’s a lot of delight, a great delight to see how he’s loved by the people he serves. It’s a great testimony to him,” said Father De-Grood.
