Cedar Lake construction sites burglarized

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrols in the southeast side of Cedar Lake after several reported incidents of construction trailers and homes under construction being burglarized.
Sheriff Luke Hennen said Wednesday, Jan. 10, that there have been three calls to his office about the problem, and speculated that there were likely more unreported incidents.
The sheriff’s office received a report on December 29 of a construction vehicle parked at a worksite overnight had been broken into and items missing. Another call on January 8 reported that someone had stolen items from a construction site. On January 9, a contractor contacted his office about ongoing problems of people going into houses under construction. Deputies meeting with the contractor are working to investigate the reports.
“A lot of times, these things go unreported and we can’t investigate if they aren’t reported. We’re going to increase patrol in the area (in the 25000 block of Cedar Lane) and we are asking people in the area to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity in the area.
