Boy hospitalized after sledding accident

A 4-year-old from the Veseli area remains hospitalized following a sledding accident that occurred on his family’s farm on Saturday morning, January 27.

Dylan Pint, son of Mike and Jessie Pint, was riding solo on a sled that veered off its path. According to a gofundme.com page set up by his family, he struck a low-hanging tree branch and fell back, striking the back of his skull.

Dylan’s brother, cousin, and grandmother were on the sledding hill at the time and raced to help. They called 911, and stayed with him until first responders arrived. Dylan was taken by North Air Ambulance to Minneapolis Children’s Hospital where he was being treated for a fractured skull, concussion, and abrasions on the face.

On Monday, Dylan’s mother reported that he was making a steady recovery.

“Dylan has been an amazing trooper through all this,” she said.

The Pints were hoping Dylan would be released on Tuesday, but on Tuesday morning, Dylan was experiencing pain.

“Doctors want to keep him in the hospital for at least another day,” Jessie Pint reported.

He is listed in stable condition.

According to the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, the call was received at 10:10 a.m. Saturday at an address on 50th Street West in Wheatland Township. Rice County Deputies, Lonsdale Fire/Rescue, Faribault Fire/ Rescue, Lonsdale Police, and North Ambulance all assisted on the call.

A GoFundMe page named “Support for Dylan” has been set up to assist the family with uncovered medical expenses.
