Aug. 11 event honors area law enforcement officers
What started out as a comment on a Facebook page has grown into an event honoring law enforcement officers in Scott and Le Sueur counties to be held Thursday, Aug. 11, at Memorial Park in New Prague.
The event, “Lounge with Law Enforcement,” will be held from 5-8 p.m.
According to a Facebook page for the event, the dinner will include all law enforcement agencies in the two counties: New Prague Police Department, Montgomery Police Department, Scott County Sheriff's Department, Le Sueur Police Department, Prior Lake Police Department, Savage Police Department, Le Center Police Department, Tri-City S.W.A.T, Cleveland Police Department, Jordan Police Department, Le Sueur County Sheriff's Department, Shakopee Police Department, Belle Plaine Police Department, Waterville Police Department and Elko New Market Police Department.
Dinner will be donated by local caterers, meat markets, bakeries, markets and restaurants. Admission for the event is a donated food item for the various Scott and Le Sueur county foodshelves.
In addition to food, people will get the opportunity to tour law enforcement vehicles and there will be a dunk tank and dancing music for all ages provided by DJ Witty.
Most important, the event organizers say, is this provides an opportunity “to have fun while interacting with those who serve and protect all of us.”
