Archery Club takes 3rd at state tournament

The New Prague Archery Club competed in the Regional Tournament in Mahtomedi recently, with the High School Team taking first place with a team score of 3,370, slightly less than the season-high score they put up at St. Croix Prep of 3,421. The Combined Elementary/ Middle School Team took fifth with a score of 3,118.

The state tournament was held this past weekend at Duluth, drawing nearly 1,600 archers from 83 schools across Minnesota.

The High School Team 1 finished in third place with a team score of 3,376. Princeton won the tournament with a score of 3,399 and Grand Rapids was second at 3,386.

NPHS Team 2 finished in 27th place.

The Combined Middle School/Elementary team finished in seventh place with a score of 3,127. Top six were, in order, Princeton (with a score of 3,316), Champlin Park, Jackson, Foley, Milaca, Grand Rapids and Mahtomedi.

Top archers were: Cory Schroeder (first place, elementary boys), Tyler Grebner (10th, elementary boys) Breanna Franek (sixth place, high school girls) and Dakota Skluzacek (eighth, high school boys).
