Another successful Dozinky

Thousands of people flocked to New Prague this weekend to celebrate the city’s culture and heritage at the annual Dozinky Festival.
After a modest start in the 1980s, Dozinky has grown into a tremendous opportunity for people to gather and celebrate their community. The name itself is a tribute to the city’s ethnic and agricultural heritage. Longtime residents, former residents, new residents and more gather. Some have no connection to New Prague at all, but enjoy seeing the many events, and others who arrive have only a small connection to the community - through relatives or friends.
For whatever reason, they come to New Prague and enjoy the many things that make Dozinky a unique festival - whether it be the three music stages featuring a variety of music, the Czech singing and dancing, the many crafts and food booths or just people-watching.
It takes a huge effort to stage an event like this, and the New Prague Chamber of Commerce does a tremendous job. That’s one thing the festival has always had going for it - the dedication from chamber board members, chamber members and employees have helped this festival grow and thrive over the years.
Bill Frost was the executive director of the Chamber in the 1980s, when Dozinky started. He eventually gave way to Melissa Langer, who was followed by Kim Gassner, Kristy Mach and now Debbie Kalousek. Each of these people have helped shepherd Dozinky through its various changes over the years and the efforts of these people, along with other chamber employees, has helped it to thrive.
To everyone who has had a hand in helping Dozinky over the years, the community owes you a debt of gratitude.
