Alice Honza

Alice Mae Honza, 86, formerly of Montgomery, died Monday, October 2, 2017, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. with Father David Barrett officiating. Interment will be in the Czech National Cemetery in New Prague. Lunch will follow at the American Legion Club in Montgomery.
 
Alice was born on July 25, 1931, in Lanesburgh Township to Erwin and Emma (Gab) Eisert. She was a New Prague High School graduate in 1948. Alice was united in marriage to Thomas Mariska in 1948, and they had one daughter, Katherine. Later, she married Raymond Honza in 1980.
 
Alice worked at Elray’s Café, and the Dinner Bell Café in Montgomery, and at Winco in Le Center, but most of all enjoyed working on the farm. She loved her family deeply, and also enjoyed gardening, her Czech heritage, and music. Alice was a great baker and cook, especially her delicious kolackys, dumplings and vomacka.
 
Alice is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Michael) Bosshardt of Minneapolis; granddaughter, Michelle (Daniel) Rynda of Heidelberg; great-grandchildren, Allison and Adam Rynda.
 
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Thomas Mariska, and second husband, Raymond Honza.
