Thomas Stonehouse of the Minnesota Pipes and Drums band plays “Amazing Grace” on his bagpipe at midnight on Monday, May 15 in front of the Montgomery Police Department to commemorate the beginning of National Police Week and fallen officers. This is the fourth year this solemn tradition has been held in Montgomery. Even though it is specifically for police officers, Stonehouse, a volunteer emergency medical responder with Montgomery Area Emergency Medical Service, says that the event represents all emergency personnel. Police, fire and ambulance showed up with lights on to block the street as a small crowd gathered in remembrance for the occasion.
